I’m surprised I became addicted to a game about monkeys popping balloons, but even after three years, Bloons TD 6 is still my favorite mobile game. It is a well-designed tower defense game with a funny art style. It may look simple, but it requires strategic thinking. The gameplay is fast-paced and satisfying, making it great for quick breaks.
Tower defense games are perfect for smartphones. Using touchscreen controls can be a drawback for shooters and racing games, but they help a tower defense puzzle game. The main attraction is that each level is a puzzle requiring the right monkeys, placement, and upgrades.
Bloons TD 6 has over 50 levels. Everyone has a winding path with balloons. You can use monkeys with darts and other weapons to pop balloons before they escape. Balloons come in different colors and have different strengths and weaknesses. Monkeys have special powers and skill trees. You can improve the monkeys by popping the balloons. Each map has three difficulty levels and different modes, making balloon-popping fun and endless. Not to mention the special events and bonus challenges.
Bloons TD 6 strikes a perfect balance between being challenging and enjoyable. Yes, the game is priced at $5 and includes microtransactions, but you can disregard them. Playing this game is both relaxing and perfect for short periods. It offers a good level of challenge, occasionally leading to failure. However, this only makes the victories you achieve even more satisfying.
Staying Power
I get bored of most mobile games quickly, but not this one. When Bloons became a long-term addiction for me. I started playing Bloons daily on the exercise bike to make my workouts less boring. I increased the speed on my bike and noticed that the fast-paced game motivated me to pedal faster while also taking my mind off my tired legs. It became a daily routine.
The updates keep me interested in Bloons. The game is still growing, even three years after it was released. Seasonal content in the game gives it a holiday-themed makeover.
